The hotel is opposite Victoria's stately Parliament House and Treasury Gardens, and next to the Princess Theatre. It is within walking distance of the shops, restaurants and offices of Collins and Bourke Streets, as well as many of Melbourne's landmarks including Federation Square, the National Gallery of Victoria, the MCG, and the Southbank arts precinct. Parliament train station and tram stops are in front of the hotel. Melbourne Airport is some 20 km away.

For almost 125 years, the hotel has graced Melbourne with its stunning architecture and graceful interiors, and has been home to the city's social, business, cultural and political communities.
