"Great Location - Handy to everything!"
The Somerset on Elizabeth is in a great location - virtually right in the centre of Melbourne's CBD. We stayed for 6 nights in November - same time as the U2 concerts, although we weren't in Melbourne to see U2. The (one bedroom unit) was spacious, modern, clean and we found the staff to be very friendly (unlike the previous reviewer!). We were on the 6th floor facing Elizabeth St and had a pretty good view. However, we found the noise of the trams kept us awake for the first night (they run from 5:30am until about midnight?), but after that we got used to it. The rooms do have pull down blinds, and thick curtains - presumably to help keep out the noise. I would recommend asking for a room on the 6th floor or higher when you book, as the lower floors facing Elizabeth St might be a little more noisy. We don't know if the rooms on the otherside of the Somerset get a view of anything. Also if you have a late afternoon flight (like we did), when you check out of your room they store your bags for you and let you have access to the 4th floor, which has toilets / showers so you can ' freshen up' before heading off to the airport. We found this to be very handy! This is a great place, in a great location. We would stay here again if we come back to Melbourne.

"Central Location, comfy and clean"
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment for a week. The location is great it�s right in the city centre, not that far from most things. The staff were very helpful and booked taxi�s etc when required. Even helped us with maps and directions. The apartment was quite compact but you can expect that being in the city centre. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms clean with fresh towels provided when requested. There was a dishwasher which was useful and saved on the washing up. Also a washer dryer, although this did seem to take forever to do one load of washing. Would definitely stay here again, it was everything you could want from accommodation in such a location.
