Well, we love the Ibis"
We have stayed at this hotel several times during the past few years. It has changed over the years now being an Accor Hotel. Admittedly the service has also changed ie no mini bar not even a biscuit with your tea! BUT the rooms are spotlessly clean, linen is changed often, towels every day. For a budget price its good value. We recommend booking an apartment if you are in town for a few days as you have lots of room. This year we booked a 1 bedroom apartment and were upgraded to a 2 bedroom so we had loads of room to spread out. Restaurants are no problem as its a short walk to Lygon Street and a short tram ride to the city or a nice stroll if you're not too knackered from the Vic Market! We are in the 60+ bracket and like the fact that the hotel is safe and reasonably quiet especially now that the building work is all done. All in all we will keep on staying at the Ibis Therry Street as long as we are able.

"Good basic hotel, the best thing is the location"
The main drawcard for this hotel is its location - one block from the Victoria Markets, and three blocks from the start of the CBD shopping area. Tram routes operate on either side of the hotel at incredibly frequent intervals should you need to travel further towards Flinders Street, Southbank, St Kilda, Lygon Street etc. The City Circle tram and Melbourne Central Station are three blocks away.
Rooms are basic but very clean. No minibar is provided, with drinks and snacks available downstairs in the lobby (but just walk to Safeway or Big W a few blocks down to avoid paying the huge prices in the hotel). Bathroom is basic but again very clean, but bring shampoo with you because what the Ibis provides is a VERY small PACKET!
The rates online at the Accor/Hotel Ibis website are OK, however there are many other hotels which offer a few more features for the same price if you shop around - they aren't as central though.

"big rooms!"
I stayed at this hotel a little almost 3 years ago. I went through a group called people to people, student ambassidors, and really liked the hotel. It was clean and the rooms were nice. We had a corner room that had 2 bedrooms, living room, and a kitchen. The beds were comfortable, the pul out was average. the staff were great help, even though we were a group of teenage americans that had just come off a 16 hour plane ride, with little to no sleep. We had the greatest time at breakfast eating vegemite! Most of us didn't like it, but i grew to love. Overall this was a nice hotel with nice staff.
